    Industrial Flooring Estimator

    Pay

$25–$50 per hour, based on experience level

    Schedule

Full-time, Monday–Friday business hours, with deadline-driven flexibility around bid due dates

    Travel

In-office in Tracy, CA (100 W Valpico Rd, Suite D) with occasional site visits across the Central Valley and Northern California

DTI wins work on spec-first, price-second. That only holds up if the number behind the proposal is right. This role owns the estimating process end to end: you take a project from an RFP or plan set to a bid package a client can sign, accurately enough that the number holds all the way through the job.

    Responsibilities

You will manage bids from intake through takeoff, pricing, proposal, and handoff to operations — often several at once against hard deadlines.

    • Receive requests for estimates and gather bid documents, drawings, specifications, and addenda
    • Review project specs and drawings for scope, substrate condition, and flooring system requirements
    • Identify scope gaps, conflicting specs, or missing information before they become a change order
    • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for resinous flooring, epoxy coatings, concrete staining, polishing, and related systems
    • Build pricing using current material costs, labor rates, and subcontractor/vendor quotes
    • Assemble complete, accurate bid packages and proposals that clients and DTI crews can both work from
    • Track bid due dates and manage multiple estimates in progress at once
    • Follow up on submitted bids, answer clarifying questions, and support award and contract handoff
    • Hand off won projects to operations with a scope and pricing breakdown the field team can execute against
    • Build relationships with general contractors, architects, and facility owners, and support DTI's FloorQuote™ process

    Requirements

    • 3+ years of estimating experience in commercial or industrial construction — flooring, coatings, or concrete preferred but not required if the estimating background is solid
    • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents
    • Strong math and analytical skills — comfortable catching your own errors before they go out the door
    • Proficiency with digital takeoff and estimating software, plus advanced Excel for pricing and proposal build-out
    • Self-starter who can manage multiple live bids against hard deadlines without close supervision
    • Clear written and verbal communication for client-facing proposal work
    • Valid CA driver's license for occasional site visits

    Preferred, but not required:

    • Direct experience estimating resinous flooring, epoxy, concrete polishing, sealing, or waterproofing systems
    • Familiarity with ESD flooring, cleanroom, or data center flooring specifications
    • Existing relationships with general contractors or facility owners in the Central Valley or Northern California
    • Experience with CRM or bid-tracking software
    • OSHA 10 Construction certification

    Ideal Candidate

The estimator who fits this seat double-checks a takeoff before it becomes a number someone signs, calls a GC back the same day instead of the same week, and can hold four bids open at once without forgetting which one has the Friday deadline. If you'd rather lose a bid than win one you know is underpriced, you'll fit here.

    Compensation

Pay ranges from $25–$50 per hour, placed by experience level — from estimators developing flooring/coatings expertise up to senior estimators with a track record of winning large or technically complex bids. Placement is determined during the interview process based on demonstrated experience. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off and holidays, 401(k), and a company vehicle available for site walks.
